Aggregative Column
Our original loop module was created accidentally when we tried to over-stretch a collection of loops around to form a ring, thus creating a tension ring in the horizontal direction. Through experimentation with variables in loop shape, size, angle, and connection we could alter the degree of inversion within each ring, creating tension about the vertical axis. The final column is almost cellular-like in elevation, containing 15 rings, with 210 individual strips of metal interlocked by fixed riveted joints. Each ring consists of unique loop geometries such that every ring precisely follows the contours of the one below it.
