Horror Instrument

This instrument does not make music, but instead horror movie sounds by way of the material and element choices. To understand an instrument’s construction, we studied two precedents (the hurdy-gurdy and violin) and decided to adapt and combine the two. The resulting instrument makes use of the human body and is most prominently understood as a performance rather than a product. This then becomes important when designing the case, or envelope, where we chose to display the object in it’s dismantled form as opposed to combining the instrument with it’s own case.
